On being old

I think you know you are growing up when you can step outside of yourself and watch yourself change.  You are completely aware of your tastes in music and clothing changing.  But more importantly you catch yourself pondering life and your future more often.  You think about yourself not selfishly but with regard to other people.  You find yourself unexpectedly in a deep conversation with someone you love.  You're talking about life and faith together and your words have more weight than they ever have before.

I never thought I would love growing up but I love watching myself change.  I can see myself gathering more stories, more experiences and knowledge, becoming a more interesting person.  I revel in my independence and strength.  My faith holds more value each and every day.  Growing up is unstoppable and I'm learning to treasure the transformation.
