My advice to you {take it or leave it}

~If I could give you one piece of advice for the summer ... it would be to pick berries (saskatoons) in that sticky, thunderstorm inducing summer heat.  And to make the berries into miniature pies.  Maybe put some peaches in there.  And eat the pies outside on a blanket.  Share them with friends and family.  Impress them with your amazing pie crust (which you learned from Anna Olson).

(Also take lots of pictures and hope that your blog readers love pie as much as you do)

Friday

If my hair looked like this every day......

shoes: Dominican Republic. skirt: moon. tank: smartset. jacket: thrifted.

....I would be one happy chica.

Wednesday

Roasted Tomato Soup for Rainy Days

~What do you do when the rain hits after the hottest week of the year?
And you love every bite.
a battle happened here.

Reading Revolution

I am starting a reading revolution.  I realized this after a received a text message from Evan that read "I LOVE MY BOOK!!"  He was referring to "In the Skin of a Lion" by Michael Ondaatje which I had recommended to him.  Evan has never read as a hobby but once I suggested the right book, he was hooked.

Second piece of evidence is this photo snapped by Ian Kucerak of the Edmonton Sun.  I was reading on my lunch break when he approached me and asked for my photo.  In the name of reading (of course) I agreed and I made it here.  (He misspelled Jane Austen, so he must not be a reader).  Don't be confused by my concerned expression, I was concentrating.

Thirdly I am working on a book club project.  More on that later.

Monday

Summer Heat

~Can I confess something to you?  Yes? Okay great.

This weekend I complained about the heat.  Just a little bit though.  And I know I shouldn't have because it's not as hot as Toronto.  It's not as hot as the entire east coast.  It was only 31 degrees Celcius.  But I complained.

The thing is there is so much to do when it's hot.  For example: Pitch and Putt, Innis & Gun at Da Capo, rodeos, trail biking, water fights, you get the picture.  But what in the world do you wear and still look stylish?
skirt: UO. shirt: smartset.  purse: jules&james. bracelets: the Bay. sandals: Dominican Republic.

All I wore on the weekend was this navy tank top paired with shorts and skirts.  I love the simplicity of outfits like this and the versatility.  You can look great for anywhere, beat the heat and eat good food (even though that has nothing to do with clothing, roll with it).

Hope your weekend was amazing!

I'm so happy I can't even think of a title
